Religion
Religion in Papua New Guinea is predominantly Christian with traditional animism and ancestor worship still found in some places. Animism is the worldview that non-human entities, including animals, plants, and often even inanimate objects or phenomena, possess a spiritual essence. The ancestor worship they take place in is veneration of the dead or ancestor reverence is based on the beliefs that the dead have a continued existence, and may possess the ability to influence the fortune of the living.
